The Year of Firsts

Happy New Year!

It’s amazing how the year 2017 has flown by and that 2018 is already here. If you would have told me at the beginning of 2017 that I would have been standing on a stage being crowned as the 2017 Hernando De Soto Historical Society’s Queen I would have been in awe. So far this year has been a year that will go down in the books, starting with making 9 new friends that I shared 3 months of experiences with during Queens Court.

There have been so many memories that I will just share the ones that have been firsts for me and save the rest for later.

The first memory started on my first trip to Pensacola where I was put in a colonial dress to help reenact the changing of the flags between the Spanish and United States. My second memory was my second trip to Pensacola where I fed giraffes and dancing the night away with a few Marines. My third memory was the first time seeing a smile on a girl face when Alyssa and I let her wear our crown and sash. My fourth memory was hearing the first honks of excitement as cars drove by the float. My fifth memory was my first trip overseas to Barcarrota, Spain. This trip was one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had. Making lifelong friends as well as trying many different foods and enjoying a different culture from ours. My sixth memory is the first time I was entered into a spagatthi eating contest in Wisconsin for Pepper Fest. I didn’t realize how tough it is to eat food so fast.

There are so many more firsts to come as I travel to Tallahassee for Springtime Tallahassee and Minnesota for St. Paul’s Winter Carnival. I cannot wait to share them with you in months to come.
