De Soto Heritage Festival

Celebrate De Soto Heritage Festival

Manatee County’s premier celebration – the De Soto Heritage Festival celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Hernando de Soto Historical Society – kicks of the first weekend of April with the flavorful Seafood Fest.  This year’s three day event begins on Friday, April 4th through Sunday April 6th  and will be held in Palmetto at beautiful Sutton Park.

The excitement continues on April 12th with the ever popular and entertaining Bottle Boat Regatta at the Palma Sola Causeway.  Ride the waves of excitement, grab your sunscreen, beach blanket and join the fun in the Sun.

Then on Friday April 18th join in the fun for all ages in Palmetto at the Children’s Parade and Party in the Park.  Watch as children from all over Manatee County show off the floats they have made, their cheerleading skills, and school spirit voices as they march in the parade and then have fun at the Party in the Park.

Easter Sunday join the conquistadors for an Easter Sunrise Service at the Mosaic Ampitheater on the Riverwalk.

The dazzling, extravagant Musical & Fashion Show on Tuesday, April 22 will feature the 2014 Queen’s Court and local entertainers showcasing their many talents.

The De Soto Ball on Friday April 25th is an elegant, black-tie soiree to honor the investiture of this year’s Hernando de Soto as well as the crowning of the 2014 Queen and Princess.  Guests from our sister city Barcarrota, Spain and throughout the United States join us at this premier social event of the year!

To conclude our Festival on April 26th the De Soto 5K Run precedes the illuminated Grand Parade.  This Grand Finale to our Heritage Festival month is a must attend event for the entire family.  The De Soto Grand parade is one of the largest and certainly one of the most spectacular illuminated parades in the State of Florida.

We are looking forward to the community joining the Hernando de Soto Historical Society and the Conquistador Historical Foundation as we celebrate our 75th Anniversary.

To conclude our Festival is the De Soto 5K Run which precedes the illuminated Grand Parade one of the largest and certainly most grand and spectacular parades not to be missed as our finale.

Everyone is welcome to join the fun and festivities as we celebrate 74 years of honoring our areas heritage and love for our community!
